Offered to Institutions Only as a Customized Program
The 150-hour Online TEFL/TESOL Certificate is an online teacher-led program that is offered to educational institutions interested in training a group of teachers that they currently employ or will employ in the future. It is, therefore, offered as a customized program for groups of teachers working in the same setting at specific agreed dates.
This TEFL/TESOL Certificate consists of three 50-hour, 8-week long courses that last a total of six months. Course materials prepare teachers for the variety of classes and teaching scenarios they may find themselves in. Each course is divided into six modules; each module includes content delivered through an instructor’s lecture, at least two required readings and short videos, as well as other supplemental materials. Students need to complete the following coursework for every module: a discussion posting and peer response, a quiz and an assignment. Students meet with their instructor once a week to discuss the module materials and its applicability to their teaching context. At the end of each course, they submit a Final Portfolio with a collection of assignments and a reflection.
The three 50-hour courses include the following topics:
TEFL 1: Fundamentals of English Language Teaching
The first 50-hour course looks at broader issues in EFL training, such the structure of the English language, how language and culture are intertwined, and how first and second languages are acquired. Then, it focuses on the language classroom and examines issues such as the teacher’s role in the classroom, how to manage classes and groups of learners, and the interconnection of assessment with teaching and learning.
