Programs

Since its founding in 1968, CESL has become a world leader in English instruction and offers a comprehensive education, with internationally recognized academic standards.

The Teacher Training Program at the Center for English as a Second Language (CESL) is committed to offering high-quality education and preparation for both new and experienced teachers of English as a second or foreign language. We provide equally rigorous online and face-to-face courses, which offers our trainees the flexibility to choose a format that works best for their needs and lifestyles without sacrificing quality. All of our classes have a low student-to-teacher ratio, thereby providing our students with more individualized attention and feedback.

CESL and its Teacher Training Program are accredited by the Commission on English Language Accreditation (CEA), a testament to the quality of our faculty, curriculum, and assessment practices. In addition, all TEFL Certificate Course instructors have a Master’s or PhD degree in English language teaching or a related field, as well as many years or experience teaching English as a Second and Foreign Language in a variety of countries and settings. Our TEFL/TESOL certificates bear the University of Arizona logo and seal.

The Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL/TESOL) Certificate Program prepares people to teach English abroad. A TEFL/TESOL Certificate is recognized worldwide as the entry-level credential for teaching English as a foreign language.

CESL offers Professional Development courses on a customized basis only. These Professional Development courses can be offered on-site, online and as a hybrid.
