The Center for English as a Second Language (CESL) was founded in 1968 and has become a world leader in English instruction. Our Intensive English Program and University Tracks feature curricula focused on improving students’ English language skills and preparing them for future academic or professional use of the language.

Intensive English Program

Our on-campus immersive English program allows students to reach their language goals at a rapid pace.

Undergraduate University Track

For Conditionally Admitted Undergraduate students, fulfill your proficiency requirement in 8-16 weeks while taking UofA course credits.

Graduate University Track

Advanced-level English courses specifically designed to prepare you for the rigors of graduate-level course work.
