Evening English as a Second Language Classes

Español

Please note: Spring I, 2025 Session starts January 13, 2025!

CESL offers many affordable, part-time options during the evening to students who may be busy with jobs or other studies. CESL part-time options can enhance your life or further your career. UA international students may brush up on particular English language skills.

CESL's part-time Evening Program is effective because it provides quality instruction through highly trained instructors in small classes which promotes close teaching-learning relationships between students and their teachers. CESL offers Arizona's only part-time community program, fully accredited by the Commission on English Language Accreditation (CEA). Our continued commitment to high-quality ESL instruction sets us apart from other part-time language programs.

Fall and Spring part-time Evening classes are offered for two hours from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., two times per week (Mondays & Wednesdays or Tuesdays & Thursdays) for a total of 30 hours of instruction per class. Regular sessions start in January, March, August, and October of each year.

  • All new students must be tested and placed with the CESL Placement test
  • All students at the Beginning or Intermediate levels MUST be enrolled in a General English course
  • Advanced level students have the option of enrolling in a second course
  • All students remain in the same level throughout the Academic Year (August – May)
  • Students can advance to the next level after they successfully complete at least 2 sessions in one level
  • Advancement to the next level occurs ONLY in August (never during the middle of the Academic Year)
  • Students can obtain a Certificate of Completion for a level only if they achieve a 2.0 GPA and have 75% attendance for a course
  • All General English courses meet Mondays and Wednesdays or Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 – 8 pm
  • For advanced level students, we offer classes only on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
